POS - Point Of Sale




A point of sale (POS) is the place where sales and transaction are made.
It is a place where a customer completes his transaction and purchase.The merchant may issue a receipt , which is usually printed or sent electronically.

Retailers use variety of tools to process point of sale transactions like electronic card readers, barcodes scanners and cash.
E cash or Mobile Payment method is been used extensively.

Consumer Behavior
The POS is an important focus for marketers because consumers tend to make purchasing decisions on products or services at these strategic locations of the counter.

Usually the POSs system is near the store exit where the consumer leaves so as to increase the rate of impulse purchases.

Department stores often have POSs for individual product groups, such as apparel, appliances and electronics, in this way staff can actively promote products and guide consumers through purchase decisions

POS system eliminates human errors. It helps in managing and tracking  inventory in real time.
You can see numbers of items remain in stock easily and can prepare buffer stock.
This system simplifies the accounting processes and it can maintain thousands of transactions.
It allows to add promotions, coupons and discounts on the products.
